Challenges of cross-border development cooperation in contexts of regional transformation in Latin America
Abstract
This article has been prepared by two staff members of the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), in collaboration with two experts from the universities Complutense of Madrid and Santiago de Compostela. It presents and analyses the challenges faced by cross-border cooperation for development in Latin America. It does so in the light of the Association's experience through comparative analysis of European and Latin American integration and territorial development processes. In particular, it focuses on the lessons learned from different projects carried out by AEBR in the field, at a time when a decade has passed since the first bi-regional activities organized by this group of border regions and 50 years since its creation.
