Abstract

This article revolves around the figure of Rafael Ramos Pedrueza, one of the most prominent intellectuals in Mexico in the first half of the 20th century. From the analysis and historical contextualization, emphasis will be placed on his particular reading of the Spanish Civil War, as well as on his assessment of its causes and main consequences. His open and declared anti-fascism led him to admire the advent of the Second Spanish Republic in April 1931, to show solidarity with the government of President Manuel Azaña after the military rebellion of July 1936 and, finally, to be one of the promoters and defenders of the presence of the Spanish exile in Mexico.
