Analysis of the factors affecting the grade of Final Degree Projects in students of the Degrees in Early Childhood Education Teacher, and Primary Education Teacher and Degree in Sports Science
Abstract
Introduction: The Final Degree Project (TFG) is a mandatory requirement in the study plans of university degrees in Spain. The objective of this work has been to analyze the association between the grade awarded by the supervisor and that of the evaluation committee in TFGs and to identify which variables can explain the students' final grades in this subject. Methods: For the statistical analysis of the data, the Wilcoxon test, effect size, and linear regression analysis were used. Results: The results show a statistically significant difference between the grade proposed by the supervisor and the grade awarded by the committee: 8.77 points and 7.62 points, respectively (p<0.01). Furthermore, variables such as the gender of the supervisor, the session in which the TFG is presented, the supervisor's professional category, and the number of TFGs supervised explain the final grade students receive in the TFG. Discussion: The evidence found can contribute to improving university policies regarding the evaluation of the TFG, aligning them with best practices and ensuring objectivity in student grading.
