Abstract

South American camelids (SAC) production is the most important subsistence media of the Andean communities. The high mortality of their cria is one of the most important limiting factors of productivity. Enterotoxemia, neonatal diarrhea and acute respiratory disease are the most frequent infectious diseases of cria. Prevention and control of the infectious disease to reduce the high mortality rates are crucial to improve the production and preservation of these animals.
