Estudio de anatomía del <i>falco tinnunculus</i> por resonancia magnética
Abstract
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic technique with a wide application in wild animals. The objective of this work was to study by MRI the anatomy of the head and coelomic cavity of the Falco tinnunculus. The head and coelomic cavity of were imaged in the dorsal, sagittal, and transverse planes to produce T1-weighted, T2-weighted.The following head structures were identified: cerebral hemispheres, cerebellum, lens, anterior and posterior eye chamber. In sagittal sections we observed pectoral muscle, spine cord and intervertebral discs. In the coelomic cavity we observed the following structures: heart, lungs, airsac, esophagus, proventriculus, ventriculus, intestines, cloaca, liver, spleen and kidneys.
This imaging technique is useful for the study of relevant anatomic characteristics of endangered species, without putting their life in risk.
