Application of acupuncture in the recovery of an open fracture of carpo with wound by cepo in a podenco
Abstract
Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese Medicine, applied to treat diseases and also as a preventive measure. Acupuncture might achieve an analgesic effect, the inmune response is modulated, the nervous system can be stimulated, blood circulation, supply with oxygen and the selection and elimination of poisonous substances can be improved. Acupuncture is especially recommended for treating patients with chronic or painful diseases. The present case will analyse the development of an open fracture, caused by a trap to a podenco dog. The results after several acupuncture treatments combined with physiotherapeutic treatments show an improvement of the the limb's mobility. The acupuncture treatment help the dog to almost totally recover the utility of its foreleg. This therapy was complemented by massages which, in the end, made a total recovery of the muscles possible.Downloads
