Anti-"Anisakis" sp. antibodies in the sera of patients with sepsis
Abstract
We analyse the levels of anti-Anisakis antibodies in the serum of septic patients for comparison with healthy persons. Specific immunoglobulin levels were related to ab and gd T cells and the severity of the disease. Significant differences were seen with respect to the groups of patients with severe sepsis and septic shock where lower antibody levels were observed (total immunoglobulins, IgM and IgA). The lowest IgE levels were detected in the case of the septic shock group. Values of IgG anti-Anisakis significantly increased in patients with septic shock compared to the control group. We observed positive correlations among the anti-Anisakis IgA antibody levels and all γδ T cell subsets.
