Infographic and pamphlet development creation to communicate EVAT to pediatric oncology relative’s patients
Abstract
The Early Warning Assessment Scale (EVAT) allows for predicting risk and prompt detection of deterioration in hospitalized cancer patients. In 2017, the multicenter EVAT project collaboration was created to improve the quality of care for children with cancer in high- and low-resource centers. Until 2024, 98 hospitals within the Latin American and European regions have concentrated on training in the medical and nursing area, aiming to implement the project successfully. Over the intervening period, trained centers have asked questions that had not been raised before, especially regarding transmitting EVAT to caregivers. Therefore, this article aims to explain the development and creation of an infographic and a pamphlet that support hospital EVAT leaders and guide family members since caregiver concern represents a point within the EVAT scale. The method for collecting information from the tools was to create a specialized group of nurses who belong to centers with EVAT. To obtain the final results, it was necessary to create five versions that creatively and concisely represented the desired information to be transmitted to the caregivers of cancer patients. The materials are expected to lead to improved communication between family members and medical personnel.
