The psychosocial experience of parents of children with leukemia in a Public Hospital in the City of San Luis Potosi
Abstract
The general research objective was to identify the psychosocial experiences in the context of disease in parents-primary caregivers of children with Leukemia. Applied semi-structured interview to parents and non-participant observation in the hospital waiting room. One of the main categories identified as influential in this experience, is the poverty of individuals and their communities of origin. Lack of resources is a source of anxiety for the individual to face the challenge of finding resources to cover the costs of treating the disease. These results show largely inequity that exists with regard to access to public health arising from the location and condition in which the individual lives.Downloads
