Abstract

The authors analyze the Foreign, Security and Defence policy of the “New” Russia, which is back on the international scene. The article goes back to when President Vladimir Putin came to power to try and explain the slow degradation of bilateral relations between Russia and the US and Russia and the European Union. It also explains how we should interpret Russia’s recent military rearmament and Russia’s hostile vision of NATO, analyzing its weak and strong points and its use of oil and gas as strategic weapons. The conclusions hint at how Foreign, Security and Defence Russian policy could develop in the near future.
