Papeles del Este
https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/PAPE
<p><em>Papeles del Este</em>, magazine published by the Institute of Eastern Europe in the beginning of the nineties, was a pioneer of its time. Its topics brought together a group of professors and researchers who all shared the same interest of the economic, social, and political transformations that were taking place in the central and eastern European countries. Later, Papeles del Este. Transiciones Poscomunistas, electronic publication of the University Complutense of Madrid and the Institute Complutense of International Studies, converted it into a platform from which they could continue to analyze the different trajectories taken by these countries. Such results as the quality and variety of the articles as well as the distribution of the magazine give credit to the hard work of its contributors. However, the process has not been without problems and insufficiencies, but it is through these struggles that we hope our readers will understand the necessary risks taken in the publication, given the fact that such topics are not widespread in Spain.</p>Instituto Complutense de Estudios Internacionales (ICEI),es-ESPapeles del Este1576-6500<strong>LICENCIA DE USO</strong>: Los artículos a texto completo incluidos en el Portal de Revistas Científicas Complutenses son de acceso libre y propiedad de sus autores y/o editores. 2008-11-012008-11-01172317Causas y efectos económicos de la inmigración. Un análisis teórico-empírico
https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/PAPE/article/view/PAPE0808220004A
The study of migration includes some extraeconomic causes. Instead, the analysis of the effects has two limitations: first, it focus only on the destination countries, especially Spain; second, is just an economic analysis. For the study of migration causes we refer to the main theories. The effects are analysed at the macroeconomic and microeconomic level. This paper concludes that labor migration has a net positive effect on the destination countries.Javier Oyarzun

https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/PAPE/article/view/PAPE0808220021A
The Amsterdam Treaty, since its entry into force, gave competences to the European Union in migratory matters, with migration being included in the First Pillar juridical framework. In addition, Amsterdam Treaty incorporates the Schengen acquis to the European Community. This paper illustrates, firstly, although the two main vectors of immigration policy are control and integration policies, the European Union´s immigration policy has three axes2. The third axis is the elimination of causes that promote migration from origin countries though development cooperation. Secondly, the complexities of fighting irregular immigration, fight against illegal immigration is priority in the European Union´s migration policy. And finally, the costs of restrictive migratory policies, it is demonstrated that a more flexible position in the regulation of migration flows, without arriving to full freedom, could lead to important gains.Gemma Garcialoro

2008-11-012008-11-01172138Integración, identidad y valores republicanos (el caso francés)
https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/PAPE/article/view/PAPE0808220039A
All migratory process implicates restate identity and his relation with culture (origin culture and adoptive culture), an adaptation at new values and a relative renunciation of inherited values. The social fracture appears when the identity don't coincide with the adoptive culture and produce a negation of republican values, as happened in France recently, and can carry anomy and free violence. The nationalist answer is the unitary vindication of an identical culture for all the people, as an historical identity, without difference, and includes a symbolic violence (the imposition of an identitary model). We present here the integration as an identitary and cultural process, one "entre-deux" intermediate space, in what identity is not an irreversible construction but an evolutive process, adapted at cultural diversity, and based on a free concept of citizenship, builted on rights and obligations, who need a minimal socialization.Gérard Imbert

2008-11-012008-11-01173948Migración y relaciones laborales. Una revisión teórica y empírica. Especial referencia a España
https://revistas.ucm.es/index.php/PAPE/article/view/PAPE0808220049A
Immigration is a permanent phenomenon in the history of human population. People, individually or as a part of a larger group, move from one territory to another for several reasons. In this paper we are focused on economic-driven mobility in the most recent period, by introducing it as a piece of a larger phenomenon, the so-called globalization and concentrating our perspective on the migrants’ job profile and their effects on the recipient countries. Under this research framework, it is central for the case study of Spain the assessment about the effects of migration flows in labour relations, both from a theoretical and empirical perspective. Economic theory, from a vision of neoclassical view, analyzes the impact of migration on employment and wages. Moreover, the empirical evidence is not robust. This article aims at making a theoretical review of the relationship between migration and labor market.Santos M. Ruesga
