Abstract
This paper offers empirical evidence about the delocation of firms in Spain, in the perspectives of the process already lived by this country at the beginning of the 90s and of the international experience, scarcely documented yet. It is a phenomenon dominated by foreign capital companies that also are divesting from firms where they shared equities and control with national owners. The attraction of the countries placed in the Central and East Europe, now involved in the integration process in the EU, is clearly revealed Nevertheless, the economic dimension of both delocation and divestment processes does not seem very great yet, being concentrated in some sectors of high technology of the manufacturing industry, as computers, electronic and instruments of precision and in some traditional sectors as food. Obviously, the effects in some of these sector might be important. On the other hand, there are no clears signals of increase of this phenomenon in the next years.Downloads
