Abstract
In recent years, in the field of rural development a new methodological approach exists, conceptualized as “neo-endogenous development”. This model is based on three pillars, harnessing endogenous potential, developing social capital (endogenous units, local/global actors and neo-endogenous units), and promoting local participative democracy. First, this article describes and analyzes the main characteristics of this new development model. Next, the balance of top-down - bottom-up approaches and their relatinship to improved strategic planning for rural areas are analyzed. Finally, co-construction of a local sustainable develop ment plan, by means of a knowledge model based on the experience of the University of Almeria Research Group is proposed. The proposed methodology has a multi-sector and cross-sectional approach, a multisector and cross-sectional approach, that pursues the development of endogenous potential through innovation, participation and validation of its social capital, and innovating auxiliary instruments such as Knowledge Models (ICT) hat improve the IT architecture for publicizing information, and Sustainability Indicators for monitoring and evaluation.Downloads
