La propiedad del agua destinada a regadío en la ribera del Órbigo (León): de la repoblación a la actualidad
Abstract
Water is the natural element necessary for the irrigation of agricultural lands. Up to 1960, two irrigation models were functioning in the irrigated plains of the Órbigo river: the traditional system consisting of flooding fields with water from the river through a network of irrigation ditches, and the waterwheel- based system that functioned from 1900 to 1960. The water from the river was always property of the Administration (king, feudal lords, church or municipal council), while the water drawn by the waterwheels was owned and controlled by the members of the so-called «waterwheel societies».Downloads
