Abstract

Firstly named Etulá by the native population of the island; Formosa and, afterwards Fernando Poo by europeans; or Macías Nguema Biyogo by the president with the same name; Bioko island, located in the Gulf of Guinea and as part of Equatorial Guinea, is one of the regions of all Equatorial Africa with the greatest natural and ethnographic wealth. However, it is one of the least visited destination in the continent. Theare are few tourits that decide to visit the Bioko Island for their holidays, probably cause of political and sanitary conditions image that it has internationally. Nevertheless, the low rate of tourism in the island is also due to the passivity of the goverment regarding to tourism till few years ago. Spain, owing to historical and linguistic reasons, is one of the countries where there can be more prospective tourism to Bioko. Thus, promoting this tourist destination to attract spanish people is an important contribution to the plans that, nowadays, the equatoguinean government is carrying out to the tourism. One way to allure that tourism, unimportant it is from Spain or any other country, is describe differents tourits resource that are located in the island. That description will be made, after a preliminary part, on the following pages.
