"Renewed" Catholicism in Argentina. The case of Padre Ignacio: ritual, healing and new religious spaces
Abstract
In this paper we propose to explore and characterize one of the ways that acquires current Catholicism in Argentina focusing on the processes of transformation of religious territoriality, in its close connection with the rituals. To do this we will focus on charismatic healing movement rooted in Rosario city, Santa Fe, which brings together more than ten thousand worshipers per weekend. In this case, we noted that religiosity crosses the boundaries of formal institutional spaces, to include external and different fields, not always under institutional requirements. Our interest is focused on trade between the priest, who is credited with healing qualities, and attendees, giving centrality to the blessings (by laying on of hands) and the home must charge to attendees. In this sense, we will seek to show how it generates and what features such exchange gains to contributes to the adoption of an interpretive framework from which individuals organize and reinterpret their experiencesDownloads
