Abstract

The prevailing artificialism is a process intended to erase human nature. The history of mankind as an artifice, of Man as a self-constructed being, started long ago. Instrumental reason has become the sole guide and vital impulse of human life, replacing human freedom by a scientific faith which only trusts mechanically programmed activities. Instrumental reason uses science because science leads to objectivity, allowing individuals to abandon the laborious cogitations of the humanities, which are nothing but theological-metaphysical inventions trying to account for the meaning of existence. This is the way of rational progress, based of the notion that whatever is visible can be proven. Having lost the ability to give meaning to their lives, men who have embraced instrumental reason can have no other goals than extending their biological time or achieving organic immortality. Although techno-science and its product, objectivity, are regarded as highly beneficial, the result is disoriented individuals, people that have become insecure for lack of true references on which to nurture, human beings whose future seems to be death and nothingness.
