Abstract

Since its foundation on 1753, the Royal Naval Institute and Observatory in San Fernando (ROA), has carried out different activities in the field of Geophysics, initially on Meteorology, extended later to Geomagnetism and Seismology and, more recently, to artificial satellites tracking by means of laser and GPS techniques. Also, the ROA participation on marine and on land geophysical campaigns has been very active. In this work we summarize the historical activities and describe, more widely, its present status.
