The real d’or or timbre of Valencia (1426-1480). A special coin
Abstract
These lines provide a brief overview of the real d’or or timbre of Valencia and its half, the mig timbre. These gold coins were stuck at the city's mint in the 15th century, and they had a short circulation period. They were named after the characteristic design on their obverse, which featured the royal coat of arms (or timbre). We have gathered 38 coins from various public and private collections, which serve as the basis for studying their minting history and production volume.
