Contracts for printing books with the foreigners printers in Salamanca in Sixteenth Century
Abstract
The present article tries to study the characteristics, the possible contributions and deficien-cies of the printing contracts to study the book world in Salamanca, one of the main Spanish printer centres in the Sixteenth Century and of great demand of books becouse there were working many teachers and students in the city. This kind of documental source brings many dispositions about financing, types of letters and paper, inks, bindings, etc., essential to know the book editions. To obtain this objective we have used all the contracts preserved in the notarial records during this pe-riod, signed by the foreigners living in Salamanca, a collective that operated as the principal publisher of the city.Downloads
