Estudio del soporte material del legajo Chimaltecuhtli-Casco
Abstract
The aim of this paper is present the analysis of the material support of a documentary series called Legajo Chimaltecuhtli-Casco. In this corpus, sets out a series of documents (lawsuits, wills and land sales, as well as several paintings or Mesoamerican codices) from the region of Cholula (Mexico) and for the 16th and 17th centuries. The greatest peculiarity is that it presents is in the hands of a private collector, outside an archival context. It is therefore necessary to work leading to its authentication and dating, beyond a mere study of content. To carry out will be resorted to various sciences. In the case of the above, was used primarily the Codicology that gives special emphasis to the study of the material it receives the deed. With the analysis of various elements relating to this, such as watermarks, paper sealed and the organization of the booklets, we were able to go one more step towards the definitive authentication of this whole documentary.Downloads
