Lo múltiple en lo uno: particularismos y universalidad en la producción escrituraria de la Alta Edad Media, de San Agustín a Alcuino
Abstract
After the fall of the Western Roman Empire the Latin Church assumed the role of preserving and enhancing the remnants of the Classic culture, althought in doing this conferred it an entirely new character. Besides, the Christianizing of new territories such as the British Isles and Germania grave Europe more or less its modern extension. Within these conditions the cultural patterns were deeply changed. Some of them had already muted during the last decades of the former period, such as the format of the book or the division of the biblical text into cola et commata. Others came into existence in these centuries such as silent reading or space between words. Rates of literacy, reading and writing methods and book production and ornamentation are some other questions with which this item is also concerned.Downloads
