The first Leonese and Castilin monetary issues. Sources and importance
Abstract
After a long period without comestc currency, Alfonso VI began to issue voluminous and high-quality series before 1088, thanks to the presence in the kingdom of moneyers from Chartres and other places. The knowledge of the documentation, the observation of the specimens that have come down to us and the archaeological findings allow us to interpret the economic meaning and the monetary circulation of this first period. In essence, we find an economic transformation manifested through successive issues that complement each other that have a significant influence on successive issuances.
