The marriage liaison of an infant and the birth of a documentary series
Abstract
The article relates to the historical and political context that gave rise to the marriage of the infante Luis de Borbón y Farnesio (son of Felipe V and Isabel de Farnesio) with María Teresa de Vallabriga y Rozas —a Spanish aristocrat— of such a situation. The realization of this liaison, of a morganatic nature, was carried out with the permission of King Charles III, for which he issued a Real Pragmatic in which these types of unions were regulated —from then on—. Subsequently, a number of other legislative provisions and standards completed this procedural framework, legislating on various aspects related to this situation.
The text analyses the types of documents that occurred as a result of the inlet of this legislation, the legal body to which this situation gave rise, as well as the procedure established by the Pragmatics of Charles III when proceeding with this type of marriage unions.
