Monetary mutations at the local level. Murcia, 1651-1652
Abstract
The study about the alterations in the Castilian coinage of the 17th century has been based traditionally on the provisions issued by the Crown and the documentation generated by the main organs of decision in economic matter. It would be remarkable interest know the way as of local authorities acted under these laws. For this investigation we have accessed to the minutes of city council of Murcia, during a period so complicated as the years 1651 and 1652, when the countermark of circulating copper coin was ordered, as well as the efforts realized to promote the retreat of the adulterated silver minted in Potosí.Downloads
