Four inscriptions preserved in the Foundation House of Medina Sidonia. XV-XVIII centuries
Abstract
This paper examines four inscriptions preserved in the palace of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cadiz). The first is a fragmented inscription in Gothic script; the second contains the legend of the seven maidens of Simancas; the third is a series of entries in graphite. These three are preserved on the palace ground floor. The fourth inscription is found on the fountain of La Merced, a church-convent in Sanlúcar which was built by Manuel Alonso Pérez de Guz-mán, the eighth duke of Medina Sidonia.Downloads
