Despatialisation and privilege in the glotopolitical discourse on Andalusian women in the press. Implications for intercultural communication and multilingualism

Abstract

The article studies the discourse against Andalusian women in the press. The analysis highlights how these discourses are not only patriarchal and only against Andalusian people. Such discourses account for a patriarchal-Andalufobic vector. It is an intersectionality that must be observed in relation to the study of discursive practices against women, on the one hand, and in the discursive practices against the Andalusian people, on the other side, whether explicit or implicit. To reach such a conclusion, the article studies the origin of raciolinguism againts Andalusia, the irruption of women in the public scene from their own feminist struggles, different visions of feminism from colonially subalternized positions and the ideological processes involved (such as the despatialization) and its materialization (privilege against non-privilege, legitimacy/delegitimation, etc.), as well as the repercussions that all this has for booming sociolinguistic fields such as multilingualism and intercultural communication.
