Abstract

The aim of this paper is to study the process followed in the formulation of the grammatical discourse of the Royal Spanish Academy in the second half of the nineteenth century in order to be able to analyse its configuration in the twelfth edition of the DRAE 1884. To this end, in addition to taking into account the text of the successive editions of this work and of the grammatical treatises published by the corporation in the second part of the century, we will focus on documentation of important epihistoriographical value that provides reliable information on the working method, sources, doctrinal positioning of academics within the framework of the internal reflections of the institution or their contribution to the reform of the Dictionary in the grammatical scope.
