Nephrolepis cordifolia, naturalized in Arousa Island (NW Spain)
Abstract
The fern Nephrolepis cordifolia is reported for the first time from the province of Pontevedra (NW Spain). The three populations discovered on Arousa Island consist of dense lawns at the edges and clearing of tree plantations. It has probably escaped from ornamental cultivation and is invasive due to its good spore dispersal and rapid clonal growth by stolons and tubers.
