Morphology, new geographic distribution of "Canna amabilis" in Argentina, affinities and differences with other species of the genus
Abstract
The geographical area of Canna amabilis, a species described for Chaco, Argentina, from material cultivated in Japan, is being widened after two new records for different location of Argentina, one in humid areas from the province of Buenos Aires and other in forest from the province of Misiones. These provinces and others of the Mesopotamia are related in their floristic composition, sharing elements typical of rain forests, gallery forests and wetlands. Besides the new records for the country, studies of vegetative morphology and pollen have been carried out in order to characterize C. amabilis in more detail and to analyze affinities and differences with other species of the genus, such as C. glauca, C. lineata, C. tandilensis and C. indica. The taxonomic approach of the genus is analyzed.Downloads
