Abstract

New York, city of exile and cultural exile, generates, amongst others, a visual and pictorial discourse which we are going to deal with briefly, through three examples, where the paintings mix with the artists’ writings and even, with music. The chosen painters are the Italian Joseph Stella (1877-1946), the Dutch Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) and a French one, Jean Dubuffet (1901-1985).
