Abstract
The neurological and hepatoprotective activity of mineral waters of Firgas (La Ideal II) as well as its physico- chemical properties and chemical composition were studied. Mineral water “La ideal II” was classified as water of weak mineralization, bicarbonated-calcium-magnesic and charged with carbonic natural acid gas. Mineral water of Firgas (Grand Canary) was analysed and compared with distillate and tap waters. The activity profile and toxic reactions in mice and protective-hepatic effect in rats were examined. The water of Firgas produced a reduction of locomotor activity. Also an increased score of positional passivity was observed respect to control. The water of Firgas produced a decrease in the muscle tone evaluated 60 and 120 min post-administration. Non-observed CNS excitation evaluated by phenomena such as tremors, twitches or convulsions. With respect to autonomic system, palpebral closure, piloerection, hypothermia or alteration of respiratory rate no were observed. The water of Firgas decreased pentobarbital-induced sle eping time compared with control. Therefore, water of Firgas present a light sedative action manifested by a decrease of locomotor activity, increase of passivity and decrease of muscle tone and protective hepatic effect manifested by a decrease pentobarbital-induced sleeping time.Downloads
