Abstract
Five axioms define Europe. The cafes, the view from a human scale, the streets and plazas with the names of famous politicians, scientists, artists and writers, its double background from Athens and Jerusalem and that sort of fatal premonition, of Hegelian sunset, that have shaded even it’s best hours. Opposite to this final ruinous hypothesis, which always must reminds us of Auschwitz and the Gulag, we find the hope in Europe’s good side, in it’s Christian roots, in the possibility that the European intellect and spirit may find in it’s most profound history, the sufficient strength to create a new humanism and return the Old Continent to it’s double position as the birthplace and refuge of the most refined culture.Downloads
