Estudios mineralógico de lodos de balnearios españoles

Abstract

This work deals with the utilization of peloids as a geologic resource for therapeutic purposes. In this context we study five samples of muds or peloids uses in health resorts distributed in the spanish spas. Chemical and mineralogical analysis reveal a great variety in composition, with organic matter from 0 to 35 % and halite up to 55 %. All samples have high percentages in phillosilicates, with predominance in illite or in smectite mineral group.
