Abstract

The new Organic Law of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Voluntary Termination of Pregnancy introduces two new landmarks in the spanish legal system: the recognition of the right to abortion and a principle of regulating the conscientious objection on health. This change of “scene” can directly affect the exercise of the right to the conscientious objection and to the same practice of the health care profession. On one side, because it considers abortion as a enforceable right before the doctors, on the other because it limits the exercise of the conscientious objection to the professionals directly involved in abortion and engage their validity to previous written manifestation from professionals.
