Children's participation in territorial planning of public space: a bibliographic review
Abstract
The Convention on the Rights of the Child establishes the principle of child participation in public affairs. In the literature, its relation with territorial planning presents an interesting development. In order to go deeper into the subject, a bibliographic review of scientific databases and reports of international organizations is carried out. The field of scientific production linking children and public space is developed in five areas of development, identifying two relevant international initiatives: The Children's City and Child Friendly Cities. In the Chilean context, particular experiences of children's participation in urban design are observed. Based on the above, particular characteristics of these initiatives and experiences of child participation in territorial planning are described. Therefore, it is considered necessary to develop research in the Chilean context on children's participation in territorial planning.
