One-person households in the municipality of Malaga. Structural characterization, nationality and spatial distribution
Abstract
The municipality of Malaga has experienced a substantial increase in single-person households, which has led them to account, in 2020, for 20.12% of the total. Based on the information obtained from the Municipal Register of Inhabitants related to the last year available, 2020, we carry out a structural characterization of this type of household; and, using Location Quotients, we also provide the basic guidelines of their intra-municipal distribution. Taken as a whole, they are fairly homogeneously distributed among the 5 age groups that we have defined; and when sorted by their Spanish/foreign origin, feminization would characterize the former, masculinization and youth, the latter. From a spatial point of view, a certain correspondence can be seen between the presence of households differentiated by age groups and the moment of emergence of the built fabric, while the location of the concentrations of households made up of foreigners is closely related to their
