Abstract

The objective of this research is to carry out a bibliometric analysis of the works related to the analysis of the Spanish Geography textbooks (1980-2019) based on: 1) Trend of the published works; 2) Level of internationalization; 3) Type of contribution; and 4) Main themes of study and educational stages. The main results indicate that the trend has experienced a notable interest in the last decade, especially for the themes of Landscape and Climatology. Regarding the type of contribution, it should be noted that the research articles are the main ones (51%) and, with respect to the level of internationalization, the results show a low level (91.25% of the published works are in Spanish and 87.5% have been published in Spain). To sum up, it is important to indicate the interest that these resources have gained in the educational research in the last years because they are privileged documentary sources that allow approximating what happens in classrooms.
