Colombia in resistance: the garden as a space of resilience for women and the community from food sovereignty
Abstract
The research objective is to identify the community and emancipatory transformations of the women of Caracol La Curva, in the municipality of Pereira, Colombia, through the implementation of a food sovereignty proposal based on a community garden. The methodology is qualitative from Participatory Action Research. The instruments are the field diary, social cartography, in-depth interviews and focus group. For the analysis, axial coding is used from 4 categories: Biophysical, Socioeconomic, Historical-Cultural and Sociopolitical. The population is made up of 10 women from the community. As a result, a strong peasant tradition is identified in the territory that enables food sovereignty, with a very weak social fabric; where the community garden becomes a space for meeting, learning, exchange, dialogue of knowledge and recognition and self-recognition of women as social and political subjects, which generates autonomy in them and strengthens the social fabric.
