Abstract
- For a long time, Ahmed Séfrioui's work has been relegated to a second position due more to ideological reasons rather than literary ones. Its traditional and religious orientation along with the complete lack of denunciation of colonisation seem to have been the causes of rejection from certain specialised critics. However, as we are trying to show in this paper, his work shows solid internal cohesion, both as heir to a secular literary tradition and as a manifestation of the ideal of life put forward by Sufism. We have reached these conclusions through the analysis of the collection of the most emblematic short stories of the author, Le Chapelet d'ambre, and the later detailed study of one of them, Oncle Hammad marchand de soie, which has been selected because of its representative value.Downloads
