Abstract
Time has been a longlife constant in Diderot’s ideas. The pictorial critique allows him to get deeper into the subject starting from different Time representations : from the eternity, or time stop due to the instant artistically fixed, to the brevity of life and, finally, the death. In the Salon de 1767, his best work as a «salonnier», Diderot observed the «Académie» paintings, hanged in Louvre’s «salon carré», to make a reflection about humanity time as well as about his own time, searching, and finding, the means to become inmortal: being Art’s object and subject.Format
