Abstract
Illegal migration flows coming from the Mediterranean have become a stone in the shoe of the EU regarding the implementation of the Schengen agreement and the migration directives in the last 13 years. The article analyses the increasing migration flows coming to the EU after the Arab revolutions, the weaknesses of the Schengen agreement and the reactive policies and measures adopted by the EU in the last few years.
