Towards a transmedial aesthetic: Evil in Star Wars
Abstract
There is still much to be studied in Spanish academia on the functioning of transmedia aesthetics. In some academic circles, «popular culture» still suffers from the stigma «not worthy of study». Moreover, its complexity and the large number of works of this aesthetic make it very difficult to study as a whole.
One of the most interesting ways to approach it is to take a strong thematic basis by which to establish certain lines that enrich its reading and account for its relationship to society.
As a sample of a fractal approach to transmedia aesthetics, the study of the Star Wars transmedia universe is proposed from the concept of Evil.
In this sense, some initial examples taken from different languages are proposed in order to extract from them a sample of the way in which Star Wars represents the concept of Evil and from which ideologies it is based.
