The Global South philanthropy: exploring the far side of the Moon
Abstract
Philanthropic foundations emerged in Western countries gain prominence in the twenty-first century as potential development cooperation partners. Nowadays philanthropic foundations are considered catalysts that provide useful financing, knowledge and innovation contributing to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). They represent the visible face of a phenomenon that is also growing, with distinct features, in the countries of the Global South, although it remains hidden for a large part of the development community.
