Participation and empowerment in strategic Communication for Development projects
Abstract
In the context of a growing youth participation in the public sphere, the technical barriers to demarcate and measure the quality of the participation and the levels of empowerment achieved by the participants in Development Communication projects, are casting doubt on the real purposes of these projects. So as to explain the present risks and potentialities, the following article describes the evolution and practical exploitation of two key concepts in the history of the field: participation and empowerment.
