La gestión de los recursos naturales en África subsahariana, clave para la paz y el desarrollo
Abstract
This article reviews the capacities of microfinances as a tool for development. The first three sections summarize how some ideas have became a kind of panaceas in development agendas, who are the intended beneficiaries, their characteristics and needs; and the main issues discussed about microfinance as a tool to fight against poverty. The forth section presents two existing initiatives and their different perspectives: extending financial services to sectors not covered by traditional banking and improving incomes for poor people. It also reviews the use of microfinance in projects financed by spanish public institutions (mainly managed by NGOs). Finally the article presents some considerations in order to separate what are ideological views and real world conditions in the implementation of microfinance programs in those two perspectives and the results they can provide.
