Brasil: ¿qué políticas para qué cohesión social?
Abstract
The present article is based on the idea that Brazil, as many other countries from the region, is living through a movement of democratisation which, for the first time and unlike what happened during the eighties, is seen as the result of the action of several structural factors related to social cohesion, that the authors explain by going into four fields in depth: the social tie; the collective mobilisations; the rules and the Law; and the state, the market and the nation. The real innovation now is in the fact that the individual and collective strategies are not exclusively expressed anymore in terms of demands to the political system, so the real power of this democratizer process is in society and culture. In this way, democracy, that was supposed to come “from above” now comes “from below”, highlighting the urgent need of articulation between institutions and actors.
