Asymmetric dichotomous inequalities. A qualitative approach to the study of inequality
Abstract
Given the growing inequalities in Latin America, it is necessary to explore different ways of explaining inequalities pursuant to approaches based on the analysis of power relations, such as asymmetric dichotomies derived from socially constructed prejudices based on differentiations such as: white-black, man-woman, rich-poor, mirrey-naco, productive-unproductive. Although the level of income as an indicator that seeks to “measure” inequality is widely validated above all by international financial organizations, resorting only to this perspective of analysis dilutes the perspective of power, in the sense that the fact that the lack of power of the inferiorized has consequences in the processes of wealth distribution.
