The Present of Spanish America in 1823 Constitutional Assembly of Brasil
Abstract
In this article we analyze the Brazilian Empire in the year 1823; specifically, the presence of Spanish America and its impact in the General Constituent and Legislative Assembly, in charge of elaborating the first Brazilian constitution. We demonstrate how a Hispano-American experience instructively influenced the constitutional debate (and, in specific cases, also the Press) through the work of the deputies, and with this we seek to understand fundamental aspects of the formation of the State and the nation in Brazil, after its independence from Portugal.
