Abstract

The enormous distance between Europe and the Indies supposed a great challenge to the contemporary mercantile practises and contributed to give shape to the Hispanic American trade. Fluids commercial exchanges were possible because of the presence of the factores mercantiles. They were essentials to facilitate the exchanges and to attenuate the risks of long distance commerce. This study pretends to bring a legal point of view of the activities and the norms that regulated the activities of the factores mercantiles in the Hispanic American colonial trade.
